About the Position: This position is with The Chemical Biological Center (CBC).
Rock Island is located in the southwest corner of Quad Cities in western Illinois on the Mississippi River, 165 miles west of Chicago and between Minneapolis and St. Louis, sitting on 946 acres between the cities Davenport and Rock Island. It is one of the largest weapons manufacturing arsenals.
Duties
Serve as Senior System Administrator for the Infrastructure Support Team responsible for the mission, functions of the organization, and provide technical guidance for state-of-the-art Information Technology (IT) solutions Command-wide.
Manage Information Technology (IT) initiatives that typically extend and apply to an entire organization or the major components of an organization.
Provide strategic planning, development of business cases, policy and standards, knowledge management, analysis and evaluation of information management matters, and recommendation, initiation, and development of Information Technology (IT) projects.
Apply Information Technology policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of planning, management, and technical services.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position requirements for certification at the Level II in Information Assurance Management (IAM-II) and Information Assurance Technical (IAT-II) within 6 months or less of entrance of duty.
- Selectees must meet position requirements for certification at Level in the Acquisition Career Field Foundational Level I within 36 months of entrance on duty.
- This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) attending seminars and conferences to stay abreast of current state-of-the-art technology; 2) representing the agency at meetings to exchange information and discuss technical issues; AND 3) conferring with representatives from other Government agencies, private industry, and/or academia to exchange technical information, ideas, and procedures.
The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined:

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
