About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the ST-IC-W0JAAA US ARMY COUNTERINTELLIGENCE COMMAND serving as the Region Chief Information Management Officer (CIMO).

Duties

Conducting studies of customer support performance to determine areas of deficiency, identify commonality of problems with equipment and or software. Identifying existing or potential problem areas recommending necessary corrective action and preventive measures. Providing technical assistance to Region personnel to ensure future acquisitions are following the ACIC IM/IT plan. Providing a multitude of cybersecurity functions to include but not limited to design hardware, operating systems, and software applications to adequately address cybersecurity requirements.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance based on a T5 (or equivalent level) investigation with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
  • Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) may be required 25% or less of the time.
  • All INSCOM employees may be subject to extended TDY or worldwide deployments during crisis situations to perform mission essential functions as determined by management.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Information AssuranceInformation Systems/Network SecuritySystems Testing and Evaluation To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized Experience is defined as experience providing a wide range of IT support to all assigned customers within the Region; providing assistance and guidance in troubleshooting automation problems; providing guidance and direction in the process of Staff Assist Visits (SAVs) and Command Inspections (CIP) for Field Offices (FOs) and Regional Activities (RAs); AND representing the Region at planning meetings and conferences. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-12). Basic Requirement for IT Specialist (INFOSEC/CUSTSPT): In addition to the specialized experience listed above, your resume must show you have Information Technology related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies as defined: (1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. (4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
