Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, Admissibility & Passenger Programs, Arrival and Departure Information Systems, located in Washington, D.C. Duties

In this position, you will strengthen the Department's ability to perform homeland security functions by developing policies, conducting special studies, and providing technical assistance. This position starts at a salary of $117,962.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $153,354.00 (GS-13, Step 10). Typical duties include: Providing technical assistance and direct support to management staff in all matters relating to the application of planning systems and management programs to meet mission requirements Coordinating activities to office support staff, advises and provides analytical support on problem definition, planning methodologies, policies, and procedures Developing, implementing, and monitoring sophisticated management information systems that focus on long and short-range plans, policies and programs in the direction of goals, objectives, and priorities established by statutes, executive orders, the Department, or executive management GS Salary: Visit this link to view the locality pay tables by geographic area. Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Planning and conducting a variety of authoritative, comprehensive, complex, and sensitive projects and studies Analyzing and evaluating proposed changes in mission, operating procedures, and delegations of authority Assisting in determining the need for written policies and procedures, overseeing the development of policies and procedures Providing advice and guidance to resolve, implement, and manage program or policy issues that involve major areas of uncertainty in approach or methodology Applying a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods for the assessment and improvement of complex short and long-range goals of the organization, developing detailed plans for implementing them, and overseeing implementation of the goals in subordinate organizations NOTE: Your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet this requirement, otherwise you will be found ineligible. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 08/09/2024. Current and former federal employees may be required to serve or complete a probationary period. Agency Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) Eligibles: If you have never worked for the federal government, you are not CTAP eligible.
