About the Position: Serves as a Traffic Management Specialist in the SDDC Command Operations and Integration Center (COIC).
Duties
Responsible for monitoring critical operations worldwide, delivering reliable and comprehensive data to support the deployment and redeployment of combat assets.
Monitor and track movements using multiple computer-based systems. (i.e., Single Mobility System (SMS), Marine Traffic, and In-transit Visibility (ITV).
Assists the Battle Captain in support of the Chief, SDDC Command Operation and Integration Center (COIC).
Ensures all data received effecting daily operations is provided to the Battle Captain.
Communicates in real time with United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM), major Army commands and combatant commands as well as transportation brigades, battalions, and detachments.
Recommend courses of action to the Battle Captain or subordinate brigades, and other appropriate staff elements during emergencies, contingencies, and operations.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- This position will require shift work and/or work on rotating shifts to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays and in other situations.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
- This is an obligated position. You will be asked to sign a Statement of Understanding (SOU).

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or specialized experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) Applying transportation regulations to monitor movement of cargo using automated transportation systems (i.e., Department of Defense); 2) Utilizing transportation regulations to analyze requirements; and 3) Resolving problems of a procedural or factual nature for compliance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, or other fields related to the position.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
