Duties
You will serve as an ASTRONOMER in the CELESTIAL REFERENCE FRAME DEPARTMENT, US NAVAL OBSERVATORY, WASHINGTON, DC.
You will participate in the development and execution of astronomy operations.
You will process and analyze astronomical data in support of USNO's CRF mission.
You will conduct astrology-related research.
You will participate in a wide variety of communication including writing and presenting scientific and technical material to audiences; creating SOPs; documenting software; and documenting the requirements and design to review of projects.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

Qualifications
BASIC REQUIRMENTS:
Degree: in one or a combination of astronomy, physics, mathematics, space science, or electronics. The course work must have included differential and integral calculus and 12 semester hours in astronomy and/or physics.

Combination of education and experience -- at least 30 semester hours of courses equivalent to a major in any combination of astronomy, space science, physics, mathematics, and electronics, with required course work as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
EXPERIENCE:
GS-13: In addition to the basic requirements listed above, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector:
Experience developing astronomical systems or software, the transition of systems or software to operations and other operations.
Experience processing and analyzing astronomical data.
Experience performing a wide variety of astronomy-related research
GS-12: In addition to the basic requirements listed above, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector:
Experience performing the development and execution of astronomy operations.
Experience processing and analyzing astronomical data.
Experience performing a wide variety of communication
