You will serve as a HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT (OA) in the HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICE of MARINE CORPS BASE HAWAII.
Duties
You will provide recruitment and staffing support, including support to HR Specialists.
You will work with the Office of Civilian Human Resources Operations Center, MCBH Payroll, and other relevant offices to resolve pay or other related issues.
You will respond to basic customer inquiries on applying for jobs, health and life benefits, claims for creditable service, types of leave, within grade increases, etc.
You will check all documents for consistency and completeness, following up for additional information as required.
You will provide administrative support to HR Specialists, including preparation of disciplinary/adverse action, employment history, copying, mailing, and creating request for personnel actions.
You will provide employees and supervisors with guidance and assistance in filing injury compensation claims and review claims for adequacy of information to ensure appropriate forms and supporting documents are completed and filed.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- Must be available for occasional overtime.
- This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination.
Qualifications
GS-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing support to customers in all areas of Human Resources functions (e.g., Staffing & Recruitment, Classification, Labor & Employee Relations, Training & Development, Office Automation, and HR Program Administration).
GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing routine technical HR work independently and/or administers programs or projects in providing support to customers in all areas of Human Resources functions (e.g., Staffing & Recruitment, Classification, Labor & Employee Relations, Training & Development, Office Automation, and HR Program Administration).
This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination.

Education
In lieu of general/specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
FOR THE GS-05:
Four years of education above high school.
OR
A combination of specialized experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
