This position is located with Bonneville Power Administration, in Tribal Affairs (AIT) organization of Intergovernmental Affairs (AI), Executive Office (A).
A successful candidate in the Tribal Account Executive position will serve as a Tribal Account Executive responsible for managing BPA relationships with sovereign, federally recognized tribal governments and influential regional and national tribal advocacy organizations.
Duties
As a Tribal Account Executive, you will:
Responsible for managing BPA relationships with elected tribal governments and intertribal regional and national advocacy organizations on a wide variety of national and regional programs and policies
Advise executive and senior BPA management and other subject matter experts in providing technical expertise and policy perspective in the development and review of new programs, policies and operational activities
Exercises knowledge of unique requirements of government to government consultation and how to facilitate regular government to government meetings between sovereign tribal governments and BPA Administrator and other members of Senior Executive Team
Negotiate and manage any necessary grants and contracts, memoranda of understanding, memoranda of agreement, and other formal and informal agreements
Use personal initiative and relationships with tribal governments and interest organizations to anticipate and resolve problems and concerns necessary to achieve satisfaction regarding all aspects of BPA/constituent transactions.
Evaluate BPA programs and policies for compatibility with tribal constituent interests and compliance with BPA's federal trust responsibilities.
Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
A qualified candidate's resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-13) in the Federal service.
Specialized experience for this position is defined as:Experience in applying communications principles, methods, practices and techniques, building strong relationships with tribal leadership in order to 1) effectively represent the interests of the organization and agency strategic direction with tribal councils, governments and organizations; 2) understand the interests and perspectives of tribes in order to effectively provide insight to leadership in the decision making process on policies and initiatives; 3) provide authoritative advice and guidance to executives, managers and staff on the interpretation and implementation of policy directives and programs; AND 4) mentor and advise internal staff on tribal concerns and perspectives.
