This position is located with Bonneville Power Administration, in Tribal Affairs (AIT) organization of Intergovernmental Affairs (AI), Administrator (A). A successful candidate in the Tribal Account Executive position will serve as a Tribal Account Executive responsible for managing BPA relationships with sovereign, federally recognized tribal governments and influential regional and national tribal advocacy organizations on a wide variety of national and regional programs and policies.

Duties

As a Tribal Account Executive, you will: Serve as a Tribal Account Executive empowered and responsible for managing BPA relationships with over 50 sovereign, federally recognized tribes and state, regional and national intertribal organizations on a wide variety of national and regional programs and policies. Serve as a BPA recognized policy and technical expert on all laws, treaties, executive orders, policies, standards, directives, guidelines, programs, and agreements governing relationships with all federally recognized tribal governments and tribal interest organizations. Represents Tribal Affairs, Intergovernmental Affairs, and BPA. Meets with representatives of other BPA organizations, other federal and state government agencies, or private industry to coordinate work and provide technical guidance concerning requirements. Represents BPA in the presentation and discussion of issues and problems at meetings and conferences.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level [enter grade] in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Experience in applying communications principles, methods, practices and techniques, building strong relationships with tribal leadership in order to 1) effectively represent the interests of the organization and agency strategic direction with tribal councils, governments and organizations; 2) understand the interests and perspectives of tribes in order to effectively provide insight to BPA leadership in the decision making process on policies and initiatives 3) provide authoritative advice and guidance to executives, managers and staff on the interpretation and implementation of policy directives and programs, including BPA's Tribal Policy and federal trust responsibility; AND 4) mentor and advise internal staff on tribal concerns and perspectives. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
