This position is located in the Department of Justice (JMD), National Security Division (NSD), Executive Office (EO), located in Washington, D.C. The mission of the National Security Division (NSD) is to coordinate the Department's efforts in carrying out its core mission of combating terrorism and protecting national security.

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Lead Security Specialist and is assigned responsibilities for administrative support services to federal employees assigned to the Division as well as all contractors in security. The incumbent also serves as the Division's Alternate Security Programs Manager (SPM). As the Alternate SPM, in accordance with DOJ Order 1701, Security Programs and Responsibilities, the incumbent assists the Division's SPM in sharing responsibilities for management and coordination of the following security programs: personnel security, document security, physical security, continuity and occupant emergency planning, and communications security (COMSEC). As a Lead Security Specialist, at full performance level, you will perform duties such as but not limited to: Recommending and implement policies for security program Monitoring and reporting on progress in security process Overseeing the workload of team members Setting job tasks and security goals

Requirements

• You must be a United States Citizen or National.
• You will be required to complete a pre-employment security investigation and background check which includes a drug screening.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position of Lead Security Specialist at (GS-0080-14), you must possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade you're applying to. If you are a current or former government employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade. Additionally, please ensure to submit an applicable SF50 (please refer to the "required documents" section for additional information). Minimum Qualification: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector assisting with requests in investigations or monitoring and reporting on the progress of cases in the security process.
