This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command. It is in the Professional Work Category at the Entry/Developmental Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA PROCUREMENT SERVICES DIR.

Duties

As a participant in the Pathways Internship Program, you will receive both formal and on-the-job training to develop the required knowledge and skill to successfully perform the duties of the position. Serve as trainee in contracting working closely with team leader and supervisor in a training capacity on assigned tasks. Observe and assist contract specialists to develop skills in contracting. Perform a variety of limited technical tasks designed to familiarize the incumbent with regulatory guidelines, terminology, procedures and techniques of the government.

  • This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.

  • Currently enrolled or accepted for enrollment in a degree program in a qualifying educational institution.
  • Educational enrollment MUST be on a half-time or full-time basis. Half-time basis is defined by the academic institution that the student is enrolled or accepted into.
  • This position requires the selectee to sign an Intern Pathways Participant Agreement.
  • Must be willing and able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week during the duration of the internship.
  • Maintain eligibility for the Pathways Internship Program.

Qualifications

This announcement will be used to fill positions with an entry grade of GS-02, GS-03, or GS-04, with a career progression target grade of GS-09. If selected for a position a job offer will be made at the minimum salary level for the offered grade level. Management has the prerogative to select at any grade level. This recruitment provides promotion opportunity to target position without further competition when selectee is eligible and recommended by management. However, promotion is not guaranteed, and no promise of a promotion is implied. Pathways Interns qualify based on their educational achievements. GS-02: Completion of high school or GED diploma. GS-03: Completion of 1 full academic year of post-high school study. GS-04: Completion of 2 full academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree. All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement. PROGRAM COMPLETION AND CONVERSION ELIGIBILITY: This is an Excepted Service appointment. Program participants MAY be converted, without a break in service, to a competitive service appointment upon completion of program requirements. To be eligible for conversion: Meet any agency-specific requirements specified in the Participant's Agreement. Demonstrate successful job performance that results in a rating of record of at least Fully successful and a recommendation for conversion by the first level supervisor. Complete at least 640 hours of work experience acquired through the Program while enrolled as a half- or full-time degree- or certificate-seeking student; Complete a course of academic study/degree conferred, at a qualifying educational institution conferring a diploma, certificate or degree Meet the qualification standards for the position to which the intern will be converted; Receive a favorable recommendation by supervisor Minimum 2.5 GPA

The high school curriculum must be approved by a State or local governing body. All education beyond high school must be accredited by an accrediting body or organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

To be creditable, education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university.
