The primary purpose of this position is to to provide executive support in the planning and execution of the daily operations of the Commander AFIMSC/Det 10, including general analysis and staff advisory services. Communicates Commander's vision, philosophy, and intent to command staff, Air Staff, wing/mission support/squadron commanders, and AFIMSC staff.
Duties
Supports the AFIMSC/Det 10 Commander, Deputy Commander, and Branch Chiefs.
Performs high-level managerial, integrating, analytical and time-sensitive staff activities.
Updates Senior Staff on conferences, including analysis of topics covered, potential problems and recommendations.
Plans, organizes and executes complex programs, meetings and visits, e.g., visits from senior government representatives, senior foreign government representatives, wing commanders.

Qualifications
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Group Coverage Qualification Standard for Administrative and Management Positions. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: I have or will have within 120 days of the closing date one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include experience with staff operations management concepts, principles, and methodologies; experience applying qualitative and quantitative techniques for analyzing and measuring effectiveness, efficiency and productivity of administrative and technical programs; and experience planning and leading activities/projects, gathering information from multiple sources in order to develop reports and recommendations; and experience serving as a legislative liaison between management and their staff members.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of staff operations management concepts, principles, and methodologies.
Knowledge of AFIMSC mission, objectives and procedures to include: knowledge of various command entities involved in overall planning and execution of installation mission support operations.
Skill in basic analytical ability to discern short, medium and long-term effects of changes in staff operations practices, procedures and policies, and to effectively analyze the various components of staff operations as part of an integrated whole.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing. Utmost tact and diplomacy are required to meet all requirements and ensure all contacts are handled appropriately.
Ability to negotiate complex issues and maintain good working relationships.
Knowledge of military command structure, missions, programs and organizational relationships and program goals and objectives, the sequence and timing of key operational events and milestones and methods of evaluating and planning actions as related to actual events.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
