This position is in the Behavioral Health Service, Boise VA Medical Center. This position provides administrative support to the Behavioral Health Service leadership and service staff. The incumbent serves as admin to the staff of the behavioral health service that provides administrative support to Psychiatrist, Psychologist, Nurse Practitioners, Social Workers, and other program staff in all administrative matters covering a variety of service programs and organizational functioning.
Qualifications

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Comprehensive knowledge in the operation of a computer terminal and applicable software. Skilled to type entries on medication sheets, requests for consultations, memorandums, etc. containing specialized medical terminology under timely circumstances. Knowledge of correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and style. Extensive knowledge of the work programs for the Mental Health Clinic, sufficient to screen requests for information, personally provide authorized information from files and records or advise on established procedures, add refer non- routine request to appropriate staff members. Extensive knowledge of the duties, priorities, and commitments of the staff sufficient to independently set up large conferences, arrange travel and accommodations for those attending, and prepare reports of the proceedings in conjunction with and in the absence of other service secretaries. Knowledge of policies and directives governing the overall mission of the VA as they affect the functions of the Behavioral Health Services. Proficient skill in the use of Word Excel, PowerPoint Outlook, fax equipment multiline telephones etc. Knowledge and ability to take and transcribe material accurately. Knowledge of grammar, punctuation and spelling, and ability to use that knowledge in correspondence and reports. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. Knowledge of the Boise VA Medical Center phone system; mail system, including the interoffice mail between the VA and the regional office; and of emergency procedures in cases of fire, disaster, etc. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month & year starting and ending dates AND hours worked per week. Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have completed 4 years above high school. TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond 4 years above high school.

Proficiency Requirement: In addition to meeting specialized experience requirement, applicants must be able to type 40 words per minute. Applicants may meet these requirements by passing the appropriate performance test, presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates by the Office of Personnel Management local office, or by self-certifying their proficiency.
Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts; or driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
