You will serve as a Lead Security Assistant (Office Automation) in the Public Safety Function of NSA ANNAPOLIS SECURITY DETACHMENT.

Duties

You will maintain physical security of all data, personnel files, and equipment related access badges. You will compose routine correspondence pertaining to the Access Control Division based upon oral instructions, brief notes, or information derived from the files and records of the Badge Office. You will maintain files, revise and dispose of files in accordance with governing and regulatory procedures. You will distribute and balance workload of security assistants, keeping in touch with the status and progress of the work, estimating and reporting on expected time of completion of the work, and providing instructions to other employees.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license
  • This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector 1) Verifying eligibility and confirming the need for access badge; 2) Overseeing, the preparation of issuing and tracking security access badges; 3) Analyzing parking data, statistics, and monitoring systems, and programs to prevent a reoccurrence of traffic and parking problems; 4) Composing routine correspondence, training, reviewing, distributing, and balancing workload of security assistants; and 5) Maintaining files, revising and disposing of files in accordance with governing regulatory procedures.
