You will serve as an Emergency Response Dispatcher in the Operations Department, Emergency Management Regional Dispacth Center (RDC) of HDQTRS NDW.
Duties
You will answer emergency line phone calls to determine the type of emergency response.
You will perform crisis intervention with distraught emergency callers during high risk situations until appropriate emergency first responders arrive on the scene.
You will use a dispatching software program to verify data is entered as required by the command.
You will monitor the status of dispatched units and assign additional resources as requested to scene of emergency.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
- You will be required to pass all agency training requirements (e.g., Telecommunicator 1, CPR certification and DoD HAZMAT Awareness Certification within 90 days of enter on duty and APCO or IAED EMD certification within 270 days of entry on duty).
- Incumbent is required to complete training and certify as a communications training officer (CTO) to provide on-the-job training to new hire personnel.
- Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain certification as a CIC/NCIC/OPENFOX operator.
- Retention in this position is contingent upon the successful completion and passing and maintaining of all training requirements outlined in CNIC Instruction 3440.18, Navy Dispatch Management.
- Incumbent is required to successfully complete the RDC Training Program to include classroom and On-The-Job Training (OJT).
- You will be required to participate in the medical surveillance programs and will be required to take medical examinations to assess your medical qualifications for duty involving work with high level of stress.
- You must be able to clearly hear conversations over the phone and radio. and to distinguish between different audible alarm tones. Incumbent may use hearing correction devices to augment their natural hearing in order to meet the requirements listed.
- This position is subject to recall 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Qualifications
For the GS-06:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Operating electronic computer-based systems for emergency (Police, Fire, and/or EMS) dispatching management; 2) Operating multiple equipment/systems (i.e., Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, alarm systems, dispatch recording devices, multi-channel radios) during emergency situations; and 3) Disseminating information from incoming callers during emergency situations. For the GS-05:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Operating electronic computer-based systems for emergency (Police, fire, and or EMS) dispatching management; 2) Operating multiple equipment/systems (i.e., Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, alarm systems, dispatch recording devices, multi-channel radios); and 3) Receiving incoming telephone or alarm systems calls.
