About the Position: This position will work at U.S. Army Medical Command, U.S Army Medical Center of Excellence (MEDCoE) located at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas. MEDCoE is located in beautiful and historic San Antonio and is within easy commuting distance of desirable neighborhoods and excellent school systems. Duties

Responsible to promote the development of 68W training standardization and related activities to facilitate the evaluation of training services, to reduce the costs associated with the recertification process. Responsible for the development and maintenance of a documented EMS quality system describing EMS/NREMT policies and operations. Coordinates the military and state regulatory requirements for EMT through National Registered Paramedic (NRP) to include all aspects of site code administration, training, evaluation, quality assurance and criminal background inquires.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires that the employee occasionally travel away from the normal duty station up to 25% of the time.
  • Incumbent is required to possess and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification with a minimum of 5 years' experience.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Reviewing doctrinal literature and training material; resolving organizational, operational and technology issues as they relate to medical training and testing; conducts medical research and analysis, model development, and testing of programs and processes; development and maintenance of a documented Emergency Medical Services (EMS) quality system describing EMS/ National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) policies and operations; conducts periodic site assistance visits to Medical Simulation Training Center (MSTC) and other 68W training sites to ensure compliance with all course administrative and NREMT standards; gathers, interprets, analyzes, and correlates large amounts of narrative and statistical information from the Medical Operational Data System (MODS), Army Training Requirements and Resources System (ATTRS), and the other required data systems; receives and process training site quarterly reports and training site annual reports; and review overall training programs to determine adequacy and conforms to established regulations, policies, and procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Organizational DevelopmentPlanning and EvaluatingTechnology Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
