Duties
Provides technical advice and assistance to managers and other supervisory personnel in the retired and annuitant pay operations areas.
Assists work leader in the preparation of summary reports by identifying recurring errors, both monetary and non-monetary.
Performs periodic internal control checks to see if a conflict of interest exists on system access entry points for compliance with separation of duties.
Communicates with customers on findings in corrective action report to ensure comprehension of the data presented and that the customer takes appropriate action to ensure compliance with pertinent retired and annuitant pay regulations and policies.
Reviews various retired military and annuitant pay accounts and special pay entitlements to determine accuracy of pay, reasons for inaccuracies, corrective action and recommends preventative measures to alleviate future similar pay disparities.
The duties, described above, represent the major duties performed at the GS-7 level. The duties performed for developmental positions will be of limited scope and complexity to develop skills, proficiency, and work experience.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement, qualified applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-06) in the Federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

GS-07 Specialized experience is defined as: experience gathering records and substantiating documents such as retired military or annuitant pay vouchers, reviewing data on various documents and determining the accuracy of financial transactions; gathering and compiling data on operations for management feedback and/or customer briefings.
Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-06 or higher grade in Federal Service.
