About the Position:
This position is assigned to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Military Community and Family Policy (DASD (MC&FP), Assistant Secretary of Defense for Manpower and Reserve Affairs (M&RA), Office of the Under Secretary of Defense, Personnel and Readiness (USD (P&R)).
Duties
Oversees the execution of non-medical counseling programs focused on addressing the needs and challenges of service members and their families
Participate in the development, revision, coordination and monitoring Services’ implementation of DoD Directives, Instructions and publications relating to non-medical counseling programs.
Deals with significant and complex issues to respond to the needs of service members and their families by increasing connections with America’s communities, Military OneSource, and other programs.
Conduct unprecedented special assignments on complex high-priority issues in which the scope frequently alters as the work progresses.
Deliver presentations and provide training to military and civilian audiences on programs and services available for service members and their families.
Monitors the impact of current initiatives related to non-medical counseling and family programs.
Requirements
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Requirement.

Specialized Experience GS 13: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting analysis of non-medical counseling programs or policies, collaborating with stakeholders to address the needs of service members and their families, delivering presentations and/or training on programs available for service members and their families, and conducting studies on complex issues. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
Specialized Experience GS 14: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting analysis of non-medical counseling programs and policies, establishing objectives to promote non-medical counseling programs, collaborating with stakeholders to address the needs of service members and their families, and resolving issues of potential significance or controversy.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
