This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Medicare (CM), Provider Billing Group (PBG).
As a Special Assistant, GS-0301-14, you will coordinate administrative activities and projects that cut across component offices; perform research; coordinate program and administrative budgets; and conduct special assignments on significant operational policy issues.
Duties
Serves as a resource and technical authority and coordinates cross-cutting projects and tasks on complex activities and issues related to Medicare Fee-for-Service (FFS) claims processing operations.
Conducts assignments on a wide range of management and program operating matters for the Group, which includes developing and coordinating materials for the Group Director, Deputy Director, and other management officials.
Establishes and maintains contacts and working relationships required to plan and execute projects to meet the needs of the Director/Deputy.
Manages projects to ensure timely completion of action items and achievement of milestones and deliverables to assure the Group Director's goals, objectives, priorities, timelines, and deadlines have been established, understood, and met.

In order to qualify for this GS-14 position, you must meet the following: you must clearly demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: (1) Evaluating policies and processes to identify process improvements; and (2) Preparing written materials, such as briefing materials, special reports, or analyses; and (3) Leading or coordinating administrative projects or programs across organizational lines.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Time-in-Grade: To be eligible, current Federal employees must have served at least 52 weeks (one year) at the next lower grade level from the position/grade level(s) to which they are applying.
