This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DOD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is with the ILSC, Field Support Operations Fleet Management Expansion in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

Duties

Maintains bench stock used to support the repair of equipment within a consolidated maintenance repair shop. Frequently operates a 1/2-ton pickup truck and other government vehicles and equipment. Performs proper containment, storage, handling and turn-in of Hazardous Waste and Hazardous Materials (HW/HM) generated in repair shop. Maintains on-hand quantities and track demands of authorized field level maintenance repair parts. Research technical manuals, catalogs, regulations, and other similar material to select the most cost-effective tools, repair parts, supplies, and equipment needed by repair personnel. Issues tools, parts, and equipment to appropriate personnel through both manual and automated systems. Maintains both manual and automated files of all requisitions and justifications for new tools and equipment.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • Heavy Lifting up to 50 lbs in regular performance of duties.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.

Qualifications

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Tools and Parts Attendant (MVO/FLO) ~ without more than normal supervision which includes the ability to (1) Issue tools, equipment, and/or shop supplies to others; (2) Conduct physical inventories of items on hand and; (3) Operating motor vehicles and/or forklift to unload items from other vehicles. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort: Performs work on hard surfaces. Work requires almost continuous standing, walking, stooping and bending. Frequently lifts and carries items up to 50 pounds and occasionally heavier items normally with handling equipment and/or other workers available to assist. Working Conditions: Work is generally performed in well-lighted, heated and ventilated area which occasionally is drafty. Work is sometimes dirty, dusty and greasy. Is frequently exposed to possibility of cuts, scrapes and bruises.
