This position is located at Departmental Offices, Management CFO - Information Systems and Chief Information Officer. As an Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC), you will provide leadership and expert technical advice on developing and implementing policies, programs, and procedures to ensure the security and reliability of information systems throughout the organization.

Duties

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties and will receive training to help you grow in this position. Serve as a COMSEC Manager and provides COMSEC support in many areas for the Treasury Departmental Offices and Treasury Bureaus. Provide NSA Key Management Infrastructure (KMI) electronic key support for Treasury circuits. Keeps inventory records of electronic keying material and Controlled Cryptographic Items (CCI). Secure voice and maintenance support, including the installation and programming of CCI equipment. Provide advisory, planning, and customer assistance services throughout the life cycle of automated systems used by all organizational elements. Analyze findings and develop long-range plans for security systems that minimize risks, mitigate vulnerabilities, prevent security incidents, and insure systems reliability. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of new technology and other developments in the field of information technology.

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Specialized experience for the GS-12: You must have one (1) year of specialized experience that has equipped you with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service, public or other private sectors. Specialized experience is defined as Cybersecurity Information Technology experience analyzing security resource and reporting requirements. Examples of this experience may include experience: -IT project management; OR -Supporting the preparation and monitoring organizations IT budget; OR -Supporting the procurement of IT products and services. Specialized experience for the GS-11: You must have one (1) year of specialized experience that has equipped you with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal service, public or other private sectors. Specialized experience is defined as Cybersecurity Information Technology experience analyzing security resource and reporting requirements. Examples of this experience may include experience in: - Evaluating existing processes and identifying more efficient ways to accomplish goals and meet customer and client requirements IT project management; OR - Working as a member of an IT project team; OR - Providing customer support for IT products and services. OR You may qualify with a Ph.D OR 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree Specialized experience for the GS-09: You must have one (1) year of specialized experience that has equipped you with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal service, public or other private sectors. Specialized experience is defined as Cybersecurity Information Technology experience analyzing security resource and reporting requirements. Examples of this experience may include experience in: - Evaluating existing processes and identifying more efficient ways to accomplish goals and meet customer and client requirements; OR - Working as a member of an IT project team; OR - Providing customer support for IT products and services. OR You may qualify with a master's or equivalent graduate degree. OR 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree. In addition to specialized experience, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service: Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

Education

The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. If you are qualifying based on foreign education, you must submit proof of creditability of education as evaluated by a credentialing agency. Refer to the OPM instructions.
