Qualifications

Federal experience is not required. The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-timework is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week, on your resume. In order to qualify, you must first meet IRS Internship Program eligibility: You must be enrolled on at least a half-time basis, or accepted for enrollment, and seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) in a qualifying educational institution; have at least a cumulative (overall) 2.0 grade point average or higher on a 4.0 scale; remain in good academic standing. Secondly, you must meet any basic requirements of the position and the experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-04: You must have 12 months of general work experience reflecting responsible clerical, office, or other work that is related to the position to be filled. General experience for this position includes analyzing problems to identify significant factors, gathering pertinent data, and recognizing solutions; planning and organizing work; and communicating effectively orally and in writing. OR You may substitute 2 academic years of post-high school study or associate's degree. AND PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENT (OFFICE AUTOMATION): You must be able to demonstrate the ability to type 40 words per minute. Applicants may be asked to participate in a typing/performance test, provide a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates by the Office of Personnel Management local office, or self-certifying their proficiency (which may be verified at a later step in the process). Performance test results and certificates of proficiency are acceptable for 3 years. For more information on qualifications please refer to OPM's Qualifications Standards.

Education

This position has an education requirement. You MUST submit dated documentation showing current enrollment in a qualifying institution (e.g. letter from the registrar, unofficial transcripts from current semester) by the closing date of the announcement. Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. CERTIFICATE: A Certificate program is a post-secondary educational program, in a qualifying educational institution, equivalent to at least one full- time academic year of study, that is part of an accredited college-level, technical, trade, vocational or business school curriculum.
