Duties

You will serve as a MEDICAL RECORDS TECHNICIAN in the Medical Admin Office, Program Force Surgeon of MILITARY SEALIFT COMMAND. You will answer inquiries made by phone and via voicemail within 24 hours by utilizing automated systems and master medical records. You will handle difficult customers in a tactful, professional, and efficient manner. You will prepare necessary paperwork for examination processing and permanent medical records, ensuring all paperwork is accurate and completed. You will determine the needs of the civilian mariners/customers including Check in, Check Out, Duty Status Change, and Non-Fit for Duty.

Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
• Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: *Experience requesting, collecting, and screening incoming medical records for proper compliance using HIPPA standards. *Experience providing excellent customer service to both internal and external customers. *Experience utilizing computer systems such as Computer Health Care System, Health Records Management System, and PC Matrix for the input/retrieval of medical information. *Experience using healthcare principles and procedures and their applications in the health care setting to ensure medical legal documentation and records management meet all Privacy Act and HIPPA requirements.
