You will serve as a MEDICAL RECORDS TECHNICIAN in the Military Sealift Command (MSC), Medical Administration Office of MILITARY SEALIFT COMMAND.

Duties

You will responsible for receiving medial documentation, status updates, screening and reviewing records. You will answer inquiries made by phone and via voicemail utilizing HRMS and master medical record. You will protect medical information according to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) regulations.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is eligible for part time, substantial or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management.
  • Relocation expenses (i.e. PCS) may be authorized in accordance with applicable travel regulations.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-5 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Requesting, collecting, and screening incoming medical records for proper compliance using HIPPA standards. Providing excellent customer service to both internal and external customers. Utilizing computer systems such as Computer Health Care System, Health Records Management System, and PC Matrix for the input/retrieval of medical information. Using healthcare principles and procedures and their applications in the health care setting to ensure medical legal documentation and records management meet all Privacy Act and HIPPA requirements.
