About the Position: This position is located at 128th AVN, Fort Eustis, VA. Fort Eustis, Virginia is located in Newport News, between historic Williamsburg and Virginia Beach. Local Transportation via the Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) bus service to the surrounding area which includes Hampton, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Chesapeake and Virginia Beach, York County, Gloucester, Suffolk, and Smithfield.
Duties
Serves as the Executive Officer to the Commander for an Aviation Advance Individual Training (AIT) Battalion that is responsible for training and developing Aviation Maintenance Maintainer.
Reviews and analyzes the overall responsibilities and objectives of the battalion for the purpose of establishing, managing, and maintaining effective short and long-range plans and organization for the executing of battalion programs.
Directs the activities of professional military and civilian technical and administrative staff engaged in carrying out battalion programs.
Coordinates planning, programming, budgeting, funding, and manpower resources. Monitors and translates policies, objectives, and guidance from higher authority into guidance for battalion staff and commanders.
Reviews and analyzes the program by assessing battalion activities in relation to student performance during and at the conclusion of training.
Provides educational expertise for the battalion, higher headquarters, joint and allied services, other governmental agencies, and both public and private sector educational/training institutions.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- You will be expected to travel 25% for this position.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) responsible for training and developing Aviation Maintenance Maintainers to build personnel readiness in Aviation Brigades across the Army: 2) maintaining effective short and long-range plans and organization for the executing of battalion programs: 3) Interviews candidates for subordinate positions, recommends hiring, promotion or reassignments: 4) analyze the program by assessing battalion activities in relation to student performance during and at the conclusion of training, initial entry, noncommissioned officer, warrant officer, and other educational systems. The definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
