About the Position: Position is located at the Forensic Toxicology Drug Testing Laboratory at Tripler Army Medical Center which is on the Island of Oahu, Hawaii.

Duties

Assist the branch supervisor with the oversight of workload flow and production. Serve as liaison for other organizations to ensure procedures for submission of evidence are in accordance with regulatory guidance and policy. Perform standard and non-standard assignments which require independent analysis on problems that have non-recurring causes, within established procedures, making adjustments to work methods based on work experience. Process, inventory and store irreplaceable specimens used in legal proceedings and providing possible testimony in court. Provide support for the Department of Defense (DoD) Drug Deterrence Program by processing urine specimens for testing through conducting quality control checks in support of specimen accessioning and handling.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must be able to complete a pre-employment physical examination.
  • Laboratory and individual certification is a requirement of the forensic laboratory. The incumbent must demonstrate forensic proficiency within 7 months of start date.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Biology, Chemistry, or Forensic Science; OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Attention to DetailClericalCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)Forensics Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
