Duties
Manage master calendar for clinic, capturing all scheduled staff absences and critical events, to reschedule resources as necessary and avoid possible negative effects on patient care opportunity.
Prepare periodic and special reports concerning personnel, patients, dental care, and treatment operations ensuring all data and metrics are accurate.
Assign work to subordinates considering priorities, difficulty and requirements of assignments, and employees' capabilities, to provide for effective operations.
Attend to employee complaints to provide resolutions or refer group grievances and more serious complaints to higher supervisor or manager.
Evaluate employee performance to provide employee with feedback on areas of success and areas which need improving.
Utilize graphic display software to produce written correspondence.
Monitor scheduling process to ensure efficient patients services.
Provide supervision over employees such as Dental Assistants, Dental Hygienists, Treatment and Purchase Care Coordinators assigned to the Dental clinic.
Evaluate clinical practice improvements to make recommendations on improving deficiencies.
Train new personnel on care and operations to ensure procedural requirements are met.
Manage administrative activities of the clinic to maintain efficiency in the delivery of dental health care to patients.
Implement clinic program policies and regulatory guidance to maintain quality dental health care.
Manage all clinic providers schedule of delivery of patient services to assure effective, efficient, and productive delivery of such services.
Monitor training needs of subordinates to ensure all staff complete required training and maintain current certifications.
Provide procedural and administrative assistance to assigned clinic staff, to support them in providing quality patient care.
Monitor clinic workload accuracy and accountability to achieve timeliness of workload submission and reporting.
Monitor all patient treatment data to assure accuracy.
Coordinate administrative activities of the clinic on matters pertaining to the delivery of dental health care to patients.
Provide clinical practice improvements and analyzes and recommends improvements in all areas of deficiency.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.
- This position may require the incumbent to work during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes analyzing administrative activities on matters pertaining to the delivery of dental health care to patients; utilizing automated systems to enter and retrieve data; and distributing workload among employees within a medical or dental facility. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in hospital administration, public health administration, healthcare management, dental sciences, human resources, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
