Qualifications

In addition to the educational requirements, you must meet the minimum grade-specific qualifications as described below:
To qualify for the GS-14 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level defined as providing legal counsel on technical and legal issues, developing and implementing strategic enforcement response, making policy legal recommendations, briefing senior managers, working with other agency offices, the U.S. Department of Justice, state and tribal partners and outside counsel in administrative judicial enforcement proceedings. In addition, you need to have experience in counseling clients on complex technical and legal issues arising under the Comprehensive Environmental Response Compensation and Liability Act and/or experience in or knowledge of the preparation and review of actions under the Comprehensive Environmental Response Compensation and Liability Act.
The candidate must have exceptional written and oral communication skills, strong time management skills, the ability to manage significant case docket, and a strong interest in practicing environmental law, environmental enforcement, public service and the agency's mission of protecting public health and environment.

Education
You must:
(1) possess a J.D. or LL.M. degree from an accredited or pre-accredited college or university or equivalent apprentice experience as allowed per state law; and
(2) be duly licensed and authorized to practice as an attorney under the laws of any state, territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia; and
(3) be an active member of the bar of any U.S. jurisdiction in good standing. (NOTE: Bar membership is not required at the time of application, but you must be admitted to the bar before entry on duty.)
