About the Position: This position is located at Womack Army Medical Center in the Patient Administration Division at Fort Liberty, North Carolina. Fort Liberty is approximately two hours from many beaches on the East coast and five hours from the Appalachian Mountains. This position consist of administrative clerical support work in the capacity of the Birth Registrar and Decedent Affairs Representative for the military medical center.
Duties
Prepare formal/official death certificate within prescribed time limitation.
Process birth records and certificates according to military and state regulations and requirements.
Notify designated members of the installation on status of active-duty member or retirees.
Coordinate appointments for next of kin or legal representative to discuss autopsy reports.
Locate and verify the identity of the next of kin or legal representative to the deceased.
Explain rights and benefits to mother and father when establishing paternity for newborn babies.
Serve as Notary Public to notarize contents of birth and death certificates.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- Immunization screening may be required. Hepatitis B immunization may be required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience and/or education requirements described below. Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing administrative support using automated systems for data entry; preparing and processing documents; compiling data; maintaining detailed records.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
