This position is located in the Nursing Service with the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA), Bay Pines VA Healthcare System in Central Florida. The selectee provides administrative and data support services to the Nursing Service. The primary duties of the position are to assist with data collection, analysis of trends and implementation of best practices.
Duties
Include, but are not limited to:
Collect, compile, and track data and statistical information.
Assist in planning, reviewing and reporting of data and statistical results of program and project studies.
Establish protocols for incoming data, organizes computerized data sets, and retrieves computerized data.
Perform basis analysis for the data and generate a variety of reports and coordinate incoming data from a variety of sources.
Review documents and reports for omissions and inconsistencies ensuring the data entry is complete and accurate.
Enter pertinent information into a tracking system and maintains program specific data.
Advise nursing leadership regarding data collected.
Receive requests from other sources and determines the best method of obtaining, computing and reporting data.
Assist Nursing staff with analyzing workload trends, patient outcomes and compares and contrasts current and historical information.
Develop data collection tools and educates staff on their utilization.
Maintain files that are up to date and organized.
Schedule appointments with Chief Nurse, take minutes of staff meetings, maintain adequate inventory of office supplies.
Screen, prioritizes and routes phone calls to staff members and coordinates teleconferences.
Work Schedule: 7:30am -4:00pm Monday - Friday

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/01/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Candidate will have 2-3 years of administrative experience.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Producing and maintaining various documents, charts and graphs for Nursing Service to complete reports. Performing data entry and report retrieval. Managing deadlines and administrative functions. Maintaining cooperative, effective relationships with a wide variety of individuals. Managing work issues/problems and or sensitive situations. Performing inquiries, reports, and audits using English, grammar and proper formatting. Teaching, training and orienting staff to data validation methods and monitoring systems. Analyzing and validating reports of data, workload, etc.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required. There may be some walking, standing, stooping, bending, carrying of light items such as papers, books, or small parts, etc. Concentration and sustained performance under prolonged stress is required because of the time factors involved in completion of work assignments within deadlines.
