You will serve as a METAL PROCESSING MECHANIC in the INDUSTRIAL EXECUTION DEPARTMENT of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST. This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

You will clean and prepare aircrafts, missiles, engines and other components using various chemical solutions. You will use abrasive sandblasting equipment to clean, remove corrosion, and other contaminants from equipment. You will shot peen critical stress areas on a variety of aircraft and engine parts. You will coat, clean, mask, degrease activate pieces in tanks with metallic plating solutions.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is: I have the ability to perform common tasks including: 1) Cleaning and preparing aircrafts, missiles, engines and other components using various chemical solutions; 2) Using abrasive sandblasting equipment to clean, remove corrosion, and other contaminants from equipment.; and 3) Shot peening critical stress areas on a variety of aircraft and engine parts; and 4) Coating, masking, degreasing pieces in tanks with metallic plating solutions. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
