This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent serves as the CMS Local Element with authority over receipt, handling, transport, accountability, protection of CMS holdings.
Duties
As a IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) at the GG-2210-12/13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Ensuring the integrity of systems, networks, and data through the planning, analysis, development, implementation.
maintenance, and enhancement of communica1ion security programs, policies, procedures, and tools.
Conducting risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed information systems to identify vulnerabilities, risks, and protection needs; participating in network and systems design to ensure implementation of appropriate
systems security policies; and/or assessing security events to determine corrective actions.
Assisting with developing policies and procedures to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks, and data.
Conducting systems security evaluations, audits, and reviews; and developing and implementing programs to
increase awareness of communication security policies and procedures.

- Occasional travel may be required. Typical travel duration is 2 - 5 nights, usually not exceeding one trip per month, CONUS and OCONUS. A trip could be longer in duration if required.
- Member may sometimes be required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
- The member is subject to removal from the CSWF position if the member fails to attain the required certification or maintain the certification if already qualified IAW DoD 8140 and DCWF.
- Desired certifications include: PMP, CISM, Cisco CCNA/CCNP Security, Wireless, Cloud; Certified Software Systems Lifecycle Professional, CASP, or CySA+.
- This is a Cyber Excepted Service position.
- Member must be willing and able to travel on military and commercial aircraft, vessels and/or vehicles.
Qualifications

You may qualify at the GG -13 , if you fulfill the following qualifications:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GG-12 grade level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military. or private sector. Creditable specialized experience includes:
Developing, implementing and coordinating activities designed to ensure, protect and restore IT systems, services, and capabilities, monitor and evaluate system compliance with IT security requirements, and provide advice and guidance in implementing IT security policies and procedures in the development and operation of network systems;
Monitoring and evaluating system compliance with IT security requirements;
Applying total infrastructure protection environment, system security certification and accreditation requirements and processes, and Federal/Department of Defense (DoD) information systems security protocols to integrate information systems security with other security disciplines;
Applying experimental theories and new developments to problems that cannot be resolved with traditionally accepted methods or making decisions or recommendations that change, interpret or develop policies and programs;
Applying project management principles, methods and practices, to develop plans and schedules, manage projects, estimate resource requirements, define milestones and deliverables, monitor activities, and evaluate and report on accomplishments.
You may qualify at the GG-12, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GG-11 grade level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military. or private sector. Creditable specialized experience includes:
Evaluating, implementing, and disseminating IT security tools and procedures, IT security certification and accreditation requirements, and network operations protocols;
Applying total infrastructure protection environment, systems security certification and accreditation requirements and processes, and Federal/DoD information security protocols to integrate information systems security with other security disciplines;
Identifying joint communications circuits and cryptographic systems and their integration into tactical and commercial telecommunications networks;
Developing, implementing and coordinating activities designed to ensure, protect and restore IT systems, services, and capabilities, monitor and evaluate system compliance with IT security requirements, and provide advice and guidance in implementing IT security policies and procedures in the development and operation of network systems.
