About the Position: Administrative Support Assistant to provide clerical support to the Division Chief, Directorate of Public Works. Receives visitors and phone calls, maintains files, operates personal office computer and office equipment. Creates, edits, retrieves, stores and prints a wide range of documents to final form. Performs timekeeping.
Duties
Provide information to visitors or callers and directs to appropriate personnel.
Maintain files in accordance with Army Records Information Management System (ARIMS).
Prepare and manage correspondence in accordance with correspondence manuals.
Create, edit, and retrieve a wide range of documents in final form.
Responsible for correct spelling, grammar, capitalization, punctuation, and proper format.
Perform timekeeping and related duties in Automated Time Attendance and Production System.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation Tier 1.
- Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) may be required up to 5%.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a state driver’s license for the duration of employment.
- One-year probationary period may be required if not already completed.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Receive visitors and phone calls; 2) Operate a variety of office automation equipment, such as computers, fax machines, scanners, printers; 3) Perform timekeeping duties in a timekeeping system; AND 4) Maintain a file system in accordance with established policies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR
Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-04).
YOU MUST BE ABLE TO TYPE 40 WORDS PER MINUTE TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT ASSISTANT (OA) POSITION.
