About the Position: Serves as a Doctrine Writer for the Prevention Force Modernization Proponent (PFMP). Serves as a doctrinal developer and analyst, expert historical researcher, and author of operational, and tactical doctrine relevant to the prevention portfolio.
You will be required to provide doctrine writing samples to the interview panel.
Duties
As a Doctrine Writer (Prevention), you will perform the following duties which is not an all-inclusive list:
Develop and write complex doctrinal manuals, pamphlets and other technical or instructional materials for a prevention of harmful behaviors (such as sexual assault, harassment, suicide prevention, domestic violence and substance abuse) portfolio.
Reviews and evaluates recommendations from leaders, the operational force, and from within the prevention community of practice to inform the development of new publications or revisions to existing publications.
Serve as a Subject Matter Expert in the Prevention Force Modernization Proponent (PFMP) on the prevention of harmful behaviors (for example sexual assault, harassment, suicide prevention, domestic violence, child abuse and substance abuse).
Monitor and evaluate on an ongoing basis prevention related efforts across the Army, academic research, civilian agencies, and other services to inform work completed by the Prevention Force Modernization Proponent (PFMP).
Prepares briefing materials, doctrinal summaries, status, reports, and briefings/training aids related to the prevention of harmful behaviors for use in conferences, classes, and briefings to a variety of audiences.
Reviews, analyzes, and provides recommendations relating to prevention related doctrine, organizational changes, training developments, and new concepts to support the PFMPs mission to integrate prevention solutions across the Army enterprise.
Requirements

- Temporary Duty (TDY) travel may be required up to 25% of the time.

Specialized Experience Statement: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: (1) developing military doctrine for the prevention of harmful behaviors, (for example, sexual assault, harassment, suicide prevention, domestic violence and child abuse); and experience in ONE of the following (2) serving as a prevention subject matter expert advising leaders on program implementation and policy requirements (such as SHARP, Suicide Prevention, Equal Opportunity, Family Advocacy, Integrated Prevention Advisory Group, or Army Substance Abuse Program); and/or (3) experience in ONE of the following (a) evaluating prevention program efficacy; or (b) identifying gaps within prevention program doctrine.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
