About the Position: Serves as a Public Affairs Specialist for the Vicksburg District. This position will be located in Vicksburg, MS and will allow for situational telework only. This position is NOT eligible for Full-Time Telework.

Duties

Manage the digital content for the division, including public website, social media presences, and internal intranet, by creating content, monitoring conversation, researching new networks, etc. Support command information, public information and community relations activities and programs throughout the division using the division’s website, social media sites, internal intranet and monthly internal publication. Oversee content, design and management of MVK’s web-based services, working directly with subject matter experts to design and update public web site, approve and edit content for public dissemination. Ensure that information is releasable, within the guidelines of Department of Defense’s regulations, and maintains operational security. Coordinate and manage requests for inputting web pages and updates to the division website. Establish and maintain data files of briefings, photographs and audiovisual materials. Uses computer, still and video cameras, and other automated equipment to accomplish duties. Establish and maintain data files of briefings, photographs and audiovisual materials. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study Public Affairs or related field of study. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. To qualify for the GS-11: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience in developing and presenting briefings to news media representatives or the general public on an organization's activities; and preparing and disseminating news releases or feature articles to print or online media. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in Public Affairs or related field of study. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
