About the Position: This position is located with the U.S. Army Research and Development Center (ERDC), Public Affairs Office.
Duties
Write and prepare articles for dissemination in publications, social media, and public website
Provide assistance to news media in a responsive, timely and need-to-know basis. Research, plan, implement and evaluate ERDC media strategies.
Prepare and counsel ERDC personnel for interviews with media outlets
Support Public Affairs Office functions as needed by preparing news releases; creating slides, brochures, and fact sheets; coordinating events; taking photos and videos; writing speeches/talking points; drafting social media content
Serve as a spokesperson for the ERDC

Qualifications
The DJ-3 pay band encompasses General Schedule (GS) grades 11 and 12.In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Minimum Qualifications: Specialized experience: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the DJ-2 pay band (GS-09 grade level equivalent) in the Federal service which includes: 1) internal and external communication, social media, media relations and community relations; 2) creating and publishing a variety of multimedia communication products such as news releases, videos, photographs, feature articles, briefings, exhibits, brochures, infographics and fact sheets; 3) providing council to organizational leadership and staff regarding public affairs matters and to aid in their preparation for media and outreach engagements; and 4) speaking on behalf of an organization with the public and press.
OR
Education: Successful completion of a Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position.(Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.);
OR
a combination of education and specialized experience -- a combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. Only graduate education in excess of 2 years may be used to qualify applicants for this position based on a combination of experience and education. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.).
