You will serve as a LEGAL ASSISTANT (OA) in the LEGAL SERVICE SUPPORT SECTION of MARINE CORPS BASE.
Duties
You will be the principal office manager/paralegal and promote increased readiness of active duty and reserve members.
You will supervise one civilian legal assistance who functions as a receptionist, typist, notary public, and file clerk.
You will assist the Officer in Charge (OIC) with planning work to be accomplished by office staff, setting and adjusting short-term priorities, and prepare schedules.
You will assist the Staff Non-commissioned Officer in Charge (SNCOIC) with coordination of various military and civilian legal assistance clerks.
You will review client worksheets and take steps to acquire essential information and documentation pertaining to adoptions, divorce petitions, separation agreements, name changes, and other legal assistance and notary public duties.
Requirements

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- The incumbent must be qualified to be designated as a Notary Public under the Laws of the State North Carolina, and must possess such certification within 90 days of the date of employment.
Qualifications
GS-07 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: coordinating and supervising office activities of a legal assistance office and team, and providing legal assistance to individuals and commands.

This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination.
