About the Position: This position serves as Security Specialist (Force Protection) at HQ, AMC, DCS G-3 for Operations, Protection Division. Position may be filled as a temporary promotion appointment Not to Exceed 5 years and may be made permanent. Temporary promotion appointments may be extended up to a maximum of 5 years.
Duties
Serve as the Antiterrorism Officer and Operations Security Officer, providing oversight on all aspects of the protection program and perform as technical expert.
Serve as assessment lead on Protection Vulnerability Assessment Team to assess subordinate commands and installations crisis management planning and execution in the event of a terrorist attack or other emergency situations.
Maintain knowledge of Antiterrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP), Operations Security (OPSEC), Counter Small Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-sUAS), and Insider Threat (InT) policies to ensure integration of responsibilities into overall plans and procedures.
Develop scenarios, publish exercise guidance, and coordinate with participating commands/tenants in exercises to test the command or installation AT/FP plan; write after action reports; and coordinate necessary actions to correct deficiencies.
Conduct analysis of various protection products from multiple sources, i.e., Joint Terrorism Task Force, Department of Homeland Security, NORTHCOM, other governmental agencies to assess potential threats to supported commands/installations.
Provide developmental guidance, implementation, and operational oversight of an integrated security program.
Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret/SCI security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain the Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) and Antiterrorism Credential (ATC) within their first two years of employment.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
- This is a Temporary Promotion appointment Not To Exceed 5 years. Employee will be subject to complete a SOU.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Developing anti-terrorism/force protection (AT/FP) guidance and/or regulations; 2) Conducting higher headquarters vulnerability assessments; 3) Conducting AT/FP planning; 4) Implement AT/FP policies; AND 5) Managing Program Objective Memorandum (POM) processes for antiterrorism funding. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
