About the Position: Human Resources Army Continuing Education System Division, Administrative Services located on Joint Base Lewis McChord, WA. NOTE: Position is TERM NTE:13 Months

Duties

Perform a variety of clerical, administrative and technical duties/responsibilities in support of management with the intent of accomplishing the administrative requirements of the organization to which assigned; Participate in the development of policy in administrative areas by researching prior publications, regulations, and recommending new policies and/or changes Draft and prepare correspondence covering subjects of an administrative nature, both internal and external. Perform follow-up action to ensure timely reply/action. Receive and log outgoing correspondence, reviewing it for correct format, punctuation, spelling, grammatical accuracy, factual correctness, enclosures, dates, signatures, complete addresses. Review administrative program guidance, policies and procedures from higher authority to determine effect on assigned mission and functions.

Qualifications

Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed NTE April 2025 by a current permanent Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted. Position may be made permanent without further competition. "Term Appointment NTE 13 months - Position may be filled as a term appointment. Term appointments may be extended beyond six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years. Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a term appointment will be appointed/converted into a term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position." Current Civilian Employees of the OrganizationCurrent Department of Army Civilian Employees In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes drafting a variety or correspondence in proper format and with proper grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc.; using automated systems to enter and retrieve data; developing reports; and maintain a schedule of events to include staff training. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Secretarial/Business Administration /Office. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:Customer Service (Clerical/Technical)Database AdministrationOrganizational AwarenessWritten CommunicationTime in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
