You will serve as a RESEARCH BIOLOGIST in the ARMED FORCES RADIOBIOLOGY RESEARCH INSTITUTE (AFRRI), SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH DEPARTMENT of UNIF SRVS UNI OF THE HLTH SCI. Duties

You will serve as a senior principal investigator for meeting research objectives investigating biodosimetric approaches to assess radiation exposure in order to optimize triage and treatment of radiation casualties. You will be responsible for the design, execution, statistical analysis, critical evaluation, and interpretation of the research results. You will be working together with other principal investigators and collaborators outside AFRRI. The multifaceted nature of these interactions requires a high level of organization skills. You will demonstrate, effective writing and organizational skills to apply for extramural funds to support research. You will attend to the timely preparation of final reports and summaries of work in progress and provides oral briefings on the research as required You will ensure that research results are published whenever possible in peer-reviewed scientific journals and presents data at scientific meetings. You will provide guidance to technical staff, capital equipment funds, and other research funds to ensure that the research goals are met. You will monitor progress of assigned technical staff and makes adjustments or redefines research goals when support resources change.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialize experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional Research Biologist developing hypotheses and formulating research plans to conduct independent studies on the consequences of internal exposures to radioactive materials and prepares final reports on the research projects. Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess:

Successful completion of bachelor's degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

A combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
