You will serve as a RESEARCH BIOLOGIST in the ARMED FORCES RADIOBILOGICAL RESEARCH INSTITUTE, SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH DEPARTMENT of UNIF SRVS UNI OF THE HLTH SCI.
Duties
You will provide identification and characterization of radiation-induced damage with the concomitant discovery, refinement, and implementation of radioprotective and therapeutic approaches to prevent or repair this damage.
You will be responsible for the design, execution, statistical analysis, critical evaluation, and interpretation of research results.
You will attend to the timely preparation of final reports and summaries of work in progress and provides oral briefings on their research as required.
You will ensure that research results are published whenever possible in peer-reviewed scientific journals and presents data at scientific meetings.
You will serve as a senior principal investigator in support of research objectives and other projects.
You will investigate radioprotective and therapeutic agents that may limit the short- and long-term health effects of exposure to ionizing radiation along with other agents of military interest.
You will work effectively with others of widely varying skills and responsibilities.
You will provide guidance to technical staff, capital equipment funds, and other research funds to ensure that the research goals are met.

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialize experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional Research Biologist developing hypotheses and formulating research plans to conduct independent studies on the consequences of internal exposures to radioactive materials and prepares final reports on the research projects.

Education

Successful completion of bachelor's degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

A combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
