You will serve as a Traffic Management Specialist in the Business Operations Department, Safety Office of the MATERIAL MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT (63) of NAVSEALOGCENKYPTDIVNUWC MECH PA in Keyport, WA.

Duties

You will be responsible for all aspects of daily work performance of the traffic management (commercial freight) function. You will perform a wide variety of duties including traffic management, freight classification, and rating. You will determine special services and equipment required for the shipment of various commodities, and record preparation and maintenance. You will determine the appropriate freight classification and economical rates/routes, considering the suitability of routes the necessity for specialized carrier and/or equipment, the desirability of using two or more carriers or modes of shipments. You will adapt/implement the traffic management policies, methods and techniques for the application of expertise in the area of: modes of transportation; freight classification and rating; and shipment techniques for a wide variety of commodities.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing analysis of traffic management procedures on the movement of freight to prepare documentation for negotiation with transportation carriers for an organization. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree in accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, or other fields related to the position.\

OR

Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree

OR
