About the Position: As Management Support Assistant, responsibilities include a full range of advisory, administrative, and clerical assistance to the Deputy Chief of Staff for G8 and G8 staff in connection with the support of staff office mission and procedural problems.
Duties
Maintain office files and/or supplies in accordance with system requirements.
Maintain calendar of appointments and/or meetings.
Track and/or follow-up on suspense items to ensure timely and appropriate action.
Create methods for formatting reports and/or documents.
Maintain resource management documents.
Prepare correspondence or other types of documents using Microsoft Word or similar word processing software.
Operate automated computer systems and software, such as email, task lists and/or calendars to schedule meetings, provide agendas, complete travel arrangements, maintain suspense, etc.
Utilize travel system in accordance with the Joint Regulations (JTR).
Provide assistance to staff concerning their travel requirements to process travel documents.
Review reports to eliminate errors before distribution.
Use correspondence rules and regulations to prepare, edit, review and/or process written correspondence.
Prepare reports and/or minutes of meeting proceedings.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position requires the incumbent to be a qualified typist.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes 1) Maintaining a suspense database; 2) Processing travel documents; and/or 3) Preparing supply requisitions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
