This position is located in the Department of Technology Services (DTS), AO Technology Office (AOTO) in Washington, DC.
Duties
Under the direction of the AO Technology Office (AOTO) Chief, the incumbent will serve as a recognized IT solution provider and service integrator for AOTO's IT modernization initiatives. As a senior engineer with a strong background in problem solving skills, the incumbent will work with a team of IT professionals to oversee and review completed work for effectiveness in meeting objectives, accuracy, compliance with Judiciary guidelines, and adherence to best practices. The incumbent oversees engineering components of AOTO IT modernization related projects; and communicates complex technical requirements to non-technical personnel. The incumbent will also perform multiple and varying assignments under the direction as required.
The ideal candidate for this position will have demonstrated experience deploying IT modernization solutions from concept to operations. The candidate will possess strong technical and interpersonal skills, the ability to work efficiently and collaboratively with highly technical peers, and the capability to manage and distribute workload among changing priorities.
Duties of the position include, but are not limited to:
Implementing modernization solutions for managing network operations and IT infrastructure assets which support end-user technology services, including access management, integrated LAN management, and network operations. The solutions support a wide range of IT services, including access management, unified endpoint management, remote access, unified communication and collaboration, business continuity and disaster recovery, and other services in the IT service management catalog.
Coordinating, communicating, integrating, and accountable for the overall success of various IT modernization initiatives, ensuring alignment with agency or enterprise priorities.
Leveraging best practices from Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and Project Management Institute (PMI).
Migrating legacy systems to modernized systems and integrating new solutions into the existing environment.
Assisting with the development of strategic and tactical plans to achieve long-range IT modernization objectives supported by Key Performance Indicators (KPI). Reporting on IT modernization activities involving planning, testing, piloting, and implementing information systems for the AO.
Reviewing completed work for effectiveness in meeting objectives, accuracy, compliance with Judiciary guidelines, and adherence to best practices.
Identifying and interpreting customer requirements for solutions as well as new services. Acting as a liaison between the Engineering, Security and Operations teams to convert requirements into outcomes.
Assisting leadership in developing recommendations for AO initiatives, including technical solutions, AO-wide application and infrastructure policies, and standards.
Qualifications
Applicants must have demonstrated experience as listed below. This requirement is according to the AO Classification, Compensation, and Recruitment Systems which include interpretive guidance and reference to the OPM Operating Manual for Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions.
Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience which is in or directly related to the line of work of this position. Specialized experience is demonstrated experience leading, designing, implementing and maintaining IT modernization solutions which support end-user technologies and secure computing best practices.
