This position is located at the Pine Ridge Serice Unit, in Pine Ridge South Dakota. The purpose of the position is to perform a wide range variety of administrative task associated with maintaining and supporting the work performed with the organization. Such work includes functions necessary for the efficient management of an office and ranges from correspondence and information control to ordering and tracking equipment, supplies and services for the Laboratory Department.
Duties
Incumbent receives, assesses, routes, or otherwise handles incoming and outgoing materials such as controlled or routine correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other forms of written communication.
Compiles, organizes, and tracks program data which may include statistical information in support of the organization's program operations. Enters pertinent information into a variety of automated tracking systems and maintains program-specific data to track items such as project milestones, progress reports, funding and expenditure data, etc.
Serves as point-of-contact for scheduling meetings for conference rooms. Schedules appointments, coordinates meetings, and/or schedules conferences.
Receives, refers, and interacts with persons within and outside the immediate organizational unit including staff of other Federal organizations, private industry, and the general public. The employee answers questions, resolves problems or issues, and otherwise facilitates
organizational business.
Performs a wide variety of administrative tasks required to support the work of the organization. The work may include purchasing supplies, equipment and other materials utilizing prescribed purchasing guidelines and procedures. Follows-up on and tracks expenditures and ensures prompt payment.
Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
GS-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks. Examples include: Create correspondence in proper formats utilizing word processing programs; maintain manual and electronic calendars to add, delete or change meetings; serves as a receptionist or point-of-contact for an office; maintaining electronic and hard copy files; inputting data into an automated timekeeping system; input data into an electronic database for procurement of equipment and supplies.
OR
Successfully completed four (4) years of education beyond the high school level.
OR
A combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. The total percentage equals at least 100 percent to qualify for this GS-05 grade level.
GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks. Examples include: Performs administrative processes such as time keeping; preparing records for processing; scheduling for upper management using electronic calendars; respond to complaints from the public; compile information from a variety of sources to prepare reports; prepare and submit supply requisitions according to established rules.
GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks. Examples include: Distributes documents to new employees; advises new employees on proper completion of documents and reviews documentations before forwarded for approval; Assists department head staff on new policies and procedures; keeping an updated log on personnel actions, recruitment, resignations, terminations and promotions.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
