Duties
This Supervisory Training Instructor position is located Enterprise Support (ES), Training & Development (T&D), Training Center Division (TCD), Training Center, Las Vegas, NV (TCLV), Transportation Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Duties include but are not limited to:
Serves as a central point of contact for scheduling and overseeing training instructors and course deliveries and with Section Chiefs to coordinate, implement and maintain communication of schedules, training delivery program updates, policies, procedures, and directives.
Creates and manages performance metrics to identify and resolve inefficiencies in areas in need of process improvement.
Participates in the development of strategic planning initiatives, workforce planning, succession planning initiatives, and other reports and documents for TSA-Academy Section Chiefs.
Ensures the establishment of a collegial learning environment that respects the integrity and professionalism of instructional and administrative staff.
Supervisory/Managerial Probationary Period Requirements: Unless previously completed, you must satisfactorily complete a one-year supervisory probationary period to continue in this supervisory/managerial position.
Qualifications
To qualify for the SV-I Pay Band (equivalent to GS-13), you must have one year of specialized experience at the SV-H or GS-12 in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as:
Experience supervising or leading others while balancing and prioritizing tasks according to the demands of a work unit.
Organizing, planning and coordinating the functions, provisions, schedules, and administrative activities, which are required to conduct training programs.
Evaluating training delivery and providing recommendations for staff and program improvement.
Credit for experience is given based on a 40-hour workweek. Part-time experience is credited on a part-time ratio, i.e., working 20 hours per week for two months equals one month of experience. No additional credit is given for overtime.
National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
