The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Training and Readiness Command (STARCOM) at Patrick Space Force Base is searching for an Education & Training Personnel, Policy SME (NH-0346-04).
Description:
The United States Space Force (USSF) is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Education & Training Personnel, Policy Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our elite team. As a principal advisor to the Division Chief, the SME will oversee Fieldcom training programs, ensuring that policies are interpreted, developed, and executed effectively. They will provide procedural guidance and policy interpretation to commanders, directors, supervisors, and staff members, ensuring alignment with DAF regulations. With an expert understanding of subordinate unit programs, the SME will offer critical guidance and support to maintain program efficacy and alignment with overarching goals.
Key responsibilities encompass all aspects of training and education policies, including the development of comprehensive training materials and programs. The SME will be tasked with crafting internal Fieldcom policies and procedures to govern the administration of force development initiatives. Additionally, the SME will manage special projects related to instructional programs, driving innovative solutions and program enhancements. They will also perform various other duties as required to support the overarching goals of the USSF and DAF. As the Education & Training Personnel, Policy SME. your work will directly impact the readiness and capabilities of personnel, ensuring they possess the skills required to meet today's dynamic operational environment.
The ideal candidate will possess an extensive background in Department of the Air Force (DAF) policy development and execution, particularly within the 36 Series Publications. Must have robust background in military or defense training programs, with recent experience at MAJCOM, Fieldcom, or the Pentagon. Advanced degrees or extensive experience in education, training, work force develpment, or related fields are highly desired. Must have outstanding analytical, interpretive, and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to develop and manage effective training programs. Additionally, this positions requires superior written and verbal communication skills, and being capable of conveying complex ideas succinctly and clearly to a variety of stakeholders.
Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of the Department of Defense Space cadre, understanding of current education and training priorities, goals, instructional models and challenges for the Space Force and joint space operations cadres. Understanding and ability to manage responsibilities that produce USSF accessions and student pipeline management processes through basic military training, officer candidate school, initial skills training and professional continuing education and training programs. Strong analytical background that supports understanding and enables generation of required military and civilian senior leader level analysis and assessments. Highly experienced in Air Force MAJCOM and Space Force Field Command staffing processes and organizational models.
2. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization. Ability to identify problems, develop and implement innovative detailed strategies to resolve a wide range of program issues.
3. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
4. Ability to establish and maintain relationships with key individuals/groups within and outside immediate work unit including filed level representatives.
5. Knowledge of military service program goals and objectives, the sequence and timing of key force development events and milestones, and methods of evaluating the effectiveness of those events to positive outcomes.
6. Ability to gather, assemble, ad analyze facts, draw conclusions, conduct analysis, devise recommended solutions, and package the entire process in briefings, papers, or reports suitable for top management use and decision-making.

- This position is eligible for telework, 2-4 days per pay period. Employee must reside within commuting distance of worksite.
- Relocation and Incentives are authorized.
- Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret w/SCI clearance.
- Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
- This position is designated as a Testing Designated Position (TOP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program.
- May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.
- May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
