You will serve as an INDUSTRIAL HYGIENIST in the SAFETY DIVISION of HQ US MARINE CORPS.

Duties

You will serve as an Industrial Hygiene Program Manager for the U.S. Marine Corps. You will be responsible for planning, developing, and writing agency-wide industrial hygiene and occupational health programs. You will develop objectives, program evaluation criteria, and requirements for the elimination or control of disease and occupational health hazards. You will provide guidance and recommendations to commanders and program managers to initiate new operational procedures, engineering specifications, and training programs. You will conduct special studies to determine the significance of trends in occupational disease involving exposure to chemical, physical, and ergonomic stressors. You will represent the marine Corps in inter-agency meetings involving matters related to industrial hygiene and coordinates programs with DoD, DON and other Federal Agencies.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: developing and managing a comprehensive Industrial Hygiene (IH) program, providing safety and IH program management guidance and technical advice, AND recommending measures to eliminate or control occupational and environmental hazards. Education

Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess:
  • A bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in industrial hygiene, occupational health sciences, occupational and environmental health, toxicology, safety sciences, or related science; or
  • A bachelor's degree in a branch of engineering, physical science, or life science that included 12 semester hours in chemistry, including organic chemistry, and 18 additional semester hours of courses in any combination of chemistry, physics, engineering, health physics, environmental health, biostatistics, biology, physiology, toxicology, epidemiology, or industrial hygiene;
