The Supervisory Environmental Care Specialist, GS-0301-12 serves as the housekeeping manger over Hospital Housekeeping operations withing Building 100 (main hospital); to include but not limited to; cleaning activities, bed management, infection control, pest control, linen & laundry management, employee training, recruitment and hiring withing the housekeeping section.

Duties

Works and communicates with clients and customers (e.g. any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit provides, including individuals who work in your agency or in other agencies or organizations outside the Government) to satisfy their expectations. Committed to quality services. Communication and interpersonal relations, including the ability to appropriately and courteously relate to internal and external customers. Fully coordinates its activities with every other Environmental Management Service section, but also with each and every organizational element int the Medical Center. Responsible for making decisions that have substantial impact on program objectives, goals, funding, scheduling, organization structure, and allocation of resources. Responsible for the comprehensive planning, direction, and coordination of the EMS departments. Plans, formulates, organizes, directs, staffs, and budgets program policy. Must exercise broad managerial knowledge and technical expertise within the discipline of the Environmental Management service. Gives advice, counsel, coaching, mentoring, or instruction to employee, including Technical career Field (TCF) Trainees, on both work and administrative matters. Hears grievances, reviews recommendations for hiring, promotion, and adverse actions made by subordinate supervisor, and supports and implements established Equal Employment Opportunity policies and programs. Establishes performance standard and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors. Makes determinations on grievances, recommends training, and approves leave of subordinate supervisors. Responsible for integrating short, intermediate and long-range planning when assigning work to subordinates based on priorities, consideration of the difficulty of work and capabilities of employees. Understand and apply complex and multiple reference materials, texts and manuals, originating from national, state county, local, and accreditation body sources. Experience with Performance Improvement programs, LEAN concepts, and experience with HRO Safety Huddles and principles as they relate to work and function to improve and maintain safety to include infection control and proper operation of all equipment. Reviews completed work for compliance with regulatory and program requirement and satisfaction. Serves as the advisor and consultant to the Service Senior Management Team. Coordinates assigned activities with other Environmental Management Service sections and with other organizational elements in the Medical Center. Able to influence decisions and actions for beyond the scope of normal program areas, which involve total medical center plans and policies. A one year supervisory probation period may be required for this position. Work Schedule: Monday to Friday 7:30am to 4:00pm Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 07/30/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-12 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-11. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. General Adjustment SF-50's with the effective date of within the last year do not provide the information to reflect time-in-grade requirement has been met and therefore cannot be the only SF-50. If you are currently serving in a Hybrid Title 38 position, your SF-50's must reflect you have been in the position longer than one year. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Management experience in a hospital setting. Computer experience with Microsoft Office. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-11 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
