About the Position: Serves as manager of the installation Suicide Prevention Program and works in conjunction with the Installation Community Health Promotion Council (CHPC) to ensure that suicide prevention activities are carried out in accordance with guidance provided.

Duties

Coordinates with the Risk Reduction Program SMEs to ensure identification of high-risk behaviors and suicidal ideation within affected populations. Ensures that installation suicide prevention efforts involve post wide education/awareness for all active duty, family members and civilian work force. Researches topics and develops articles promoting suicide prevention for the installation newspaper. Participates in National/DoD/Local Suicide Prevention Conferences to further knowledge and education. Provides coordination of all suicide prevention training events delivered to the serviced population and maintains data base of training statistics by civilian organizations and active duty units.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes researching and gathering information to develop guidance for a suicide prevention awareness program; provide and conduct training on suicide prevention awareness; coordinate with a variety of agencies within the installation and outside of the agency to promote suicide prevention awareness. OR Successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as as psychology, sociology, political science, education.. OR Specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and I have at least two years of graduate education as described in B, but less than the required three years.
