Duties

Responsible for ensuring efficient use of center space. Serves as USDA CACFP Food Service Monitor or alternate for the Child Development Program. Assists in ensuring that NAF resources are properly handled and stored. Performs clerical and administrative work in support of the program.

  • This a drug testing designating position incumbent is subject for random testing for drug use.
  • Must provide evidence of required immunizations and maintain current immunizations; Must complete all required training requirements including but not limited to CPR, first aid, and food handler’s certification
  • Must satisfactorily complete a physical examination upon hire and every three years thereafter.
  • May serve as Government Purchase Cardholder for CDC supply and kitchen purchases.

  • Training or openings for special programs may be conducted on weekends and evening hours which may require the incumbent to work uncommon tour of duty.
  • May serve as Supervisor On-Duty in absence of CDC Director or Assistant Director; May serve as POC for GPAB and Surge Care programs in absence of Assistant Director.
  • Conducts informal and formal tours of the facility to prospective patrons and guests; May conduct Quarterly Cash Counts.
  • Informs patrons, via e-mail distribution, of upcoming parent involvement events, trainings, Parent Advisory Board meetings, and other necessary information.
  • Assists in the Child Development Program during periods of staff shortage, staff breaks and other special care programs as needed.
  • Full/part-time employees occupying direct childcare positions are eligible for discounts IAW DAF AFSVC/CC Memo, 30 Sep 22; first child 100% / each additional child 25%. Other assigned CYP and FCC personnel are eligible for 25% discount.
  • May require the employee to drive a motor vehicle between the center and the NAF accounting office. An appropriate valid driving license required.
  • Must be able to type 40 WPM.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-04, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of the child development center programs and operations; Knowledge of various office automation software processing procedures and function keys to produce a wide range of documents; Knowledge of basic arithmetic principles to make routine calculations; Knowledge of standard office equipment and office automation systems to perform a substantial range of office automation support; Knowledge of grammar, spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and commonly used specialized terminology to prepare material correctly; Knowledge of a body of rules, procedures, or operations applicable to clerical assignments, such as preparing various routine correspondence/reports, maintaining files/records, and reviewing and processing mail. OR EDUCATION: I have successfully completed four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: I have a combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position, only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of Air Force and Child Development Center regulations, procedures, processes and knowledge of basic rules of grammar, spelling, capitalization, and punctuation. Ability to gather, maintain and compile pertinent data accurately and to work effectively with both adults and children. Ability to consistently communicate effectively orally, using courtesy and tact. Skills in planning and organizing work and meeting deadlines and skill in typing; a qualified typist is required. Knowledge of automated and/or physical filing systems and procedures and the subject matter content of the materials being processed. Ability to locate, assemble, and compose information for routine reports, inquiries, and non-technical correspondence. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
